2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My media work reflects those from NME,Q,VIBE and rolling stones, i have tried to make my models the same sort of style as the artsts from the genre of rnb/pop I Researched pop/rnb artists and looked at their style.. I really like the bold hair colours i think it really makes the artist appear unique, expressive with plenty of individuality. So i took inspiration from current artists and photo-shopped my models hair to make it iconic and vibrant. Artists Niki Minaj, Jessie J, Rihanna.
My model. My Artist " Marina" is a young adult who belongs to the pop/rnb culture, and as a role model for all her audience she reflects the partcukar group of all young adults aged from 16-25 who admire her, therefore she represents her audience of the group of people who are young, confident, unique, bold, and have a lust for life. She represents the social culture that is people who listen to and support rnb/pop music. My Magazine also is uni-sex, and represents that there is something for everyone, I have done this with non-feminine or male weighted language, there is an even proportion of male and female artsts featured n my magazines, which also support the musical genre.  I researched male artists to get some inspiration for my models and how they represent the social group of my genre.

3.What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

By Researching Magazine distribution i found out about the dfferent strategies industries use, different methods, and the involvement of the costs, e.g advertisng costs, distribution costs..
I also Researched Magazine cover Prices.
The Production Company for NME is IPC.
The Distributor for Q is Bauer Media
Bauer Media also distribute kerrang and FHM. I wou
l would allow Bauer to distribute my magazine because it already has proven success with 'FHM KERRANG AND Q, it is reliable and successful shown from the amount of already successful distributions..

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?

My Magazine is Aimed at people aged 16-25 who Listen to Music such as POP, and RnB. with a mix of Gender due to the fact it is fairly uni-sex, there is no direction to whether it is for males or females, it has something for everyone. All people who buy my magazine listen to pop/rnb music so they are the perfect audience to project onto my magazine. My target audience are open-minded and optimistic about new music and sounds. They would be inspired and have a true passion for music and would like to read about the latest modern music so they can be always up to date.
These are a Mix of Males and Females who would be the perfect example of my target audience, They are all confident, forward people who like to listen to loud music and have a good time. The Type of Artists they listen to are drake, Li'l Wayne Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Jay Z, Kanye West.

5. How did you attract/address your audience?

I Created a powerpoint to express this question.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Photoshop The main programmes I used to create my magzine was photoshop. When I began this project I had never used photoshop and had no clue how to use the software. This task has taught me so much about photoshop, i struggled at the beginning but as i progressed my skills grew along the way. I used the programme to create my front cover and my contents page. I learnt how to edit photos, using the 'healing tool' to get rid of any blemishes of the image i didn't want, in order to make the photo look more proffesional. I Also learned how to use the 'clone stamp tool' to recreate the same pattern, i used this on natasha's hair to make it look bigger and longer. I also used the colour effects to brighten the contrasts of the colours to make the image stand out a whole lot more. I also used features such as,textures and shadows on differenet texts and shapes on my magazine. This created a really nice effect and added to overall look of my magazine so that it didn't look plain and simple and unprofessional. Without photoshop I think my magazine wouldn't have looked as proffesional and appealing as it does.
Publisher When i started this coursework i had very little knowledge about publisher, i had only ever used it for small little tasks, however the technology has taught me a lot. I have Learned how to use the 'Master Page' to edit things such as the background ad boarders for example that you want to stick to the page without having to accidentally knock them out of place whilst handling other things on the page. I have also learned how to use the 'drop caps' tool which makes a large letter at the start of a new block of text bolder, larger and stand out. I used publisher to create my double page spread, and i couldnt have really done without it, it has helped a lot.
Blogger To create my blog for the magazine I used this website, blogger. I have never created a blog before, so i was totally oblivious to the technology. However with help from my classmates and my teacher I Learned how to upload text, photo's, slides, and videos to my blog in order to express the progression of my work.
Youtube Another way which i presented my work was through the method of doing it through uploading videos to youtube which is a website in which you can upload videos onto your blog. I created a powerpoint, and converted it to video. I used this when doing my evaluation becuase i felt it was a good way to present a lot of information easily and effectively and yet made the blog a little more interesting.
Dafont Is Another website i used to help me present my work was 'Da Font' Which i used to help me find various different and unusual fonts to use within my work. I found this very useful in my project because it allowed me to use unique and apealing fonts in my text so that my magzine didnt look boring and plain. I downloaded the font 'PERPETUA TITLING MT' for my main title along with a collection of other fonts that i could use throughout my magazine

7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Here is both my prelim and my final magazine front covers. My final magazine,VHM looks much more like a profesional magazine than my prelim college magazine. I think this is because i took more consideration of my audience and of what a magazine should look like, when making VHM.I have learnt how to do this through the research i did,I think my work has progressed and developed as i have been making my magazine i think this is because I Studied existing magazines very closely to explore their style of working, for example the fonts, colour schemes, quality of the images and even context, I recieved, listened to and explored the feedback my friends and classmates gave me changing my work so that it meets the audiences eye, I have tried to work on the constructive criticism that i have been given editing every flaw they thought my magazine had. this helped me a lot throughout the process, during the making of the prelim i did not ask for any advice or criticism and just made a magazine without any research into others. I have also learnt how to make the magazine look appealing and eye cathcing. Using websites such as 'dafont' has helped with this because it allows the text in my magazine to look more attractive and not plain and boring like it is in my prelim mag.

Feedback

I uploaded the cover of my Magazine to facebook to have a look at some of the feedback from others. I also videoed my friend talking about my work.

Finished Magazine

Double Page Spread so far..

This is the start of my double page spread. I wanted the layout to be simple but affective because I didn't want it to look to busy and unprofessional I therfore left a full page for my text. I continued with the same colour scheme and fonts as the previous page. I chose and edited a few small photos for this page as I was pleased with my photoshoot and wanted to include as many as I could whilst breaking up the text and making the page more interesting and eye-catching. I created a selection of small at the bottom left side of the right hand page that I felt looked good together.

Finished Front Cover

Finished Contents Page

Album Section

The bottom of my contents Page seemed a little bare, and I thought I had enough images already.. so I decided to take a photo of my friends, and make an album cover, and add it to the bottom of the page creating a section dedicated to albums.

Contents so Far..

I decided to base the layout of my contents around Q magazine as I liked the stlye of their contents page. I continued with the colours of red, white and black through into my contents page so as to make my magazine look proffesional.

Font Changing

Originally, i had the name 'marina' across the bottom in just plain font.. However because the font on the rest of the magazine is in the same style, I didn't think it stood out as much as I wanted it to, so i played around with different textures in photoshop and found that this looked pretty good and met my desired effect of standing out from the rest of the text..
I also Played around with captions to go underneath her name such as "tells all" "exclusive interview" "reveals all" and "takes on the world" and added shadows to give the text a much more outstanding effect.

Sticker

I Needed to add something to my Cover other than just plain text.. So i Tried to make it look a little more interesting by adding a sticker to break up the text on my cover.. I was inspired for this idea off Q magazine, i thought it a good technique to make the page stand out a little more..

Background Change

I Again asked my ClassMates what they thought of the background colour, and they told me that the colour was fine, it just looked a little plain and unprofessional.. so i Took their advice and i constructed a better background via photoshop..

Front Cover New Image

This is The front cover complete with the new cover photo i have chosen, i think this looks much better, I like this Image because My Model Natasha appears to have much more attitude on it such as other singers appear to have ..

Photo Change

I showed my cover to a few of my classmates and they told me that my cover photo looked more of a fashion magazine than a music one, so I took their advice and did another photoshoot with a different style behind it, more pop-ish and RnB with more of a pop outfit such as a big metal chain around her neck, and a much more bolder hairstyle, i chose a photo, removed the background and enhanced the colours via photoshop to make the picture much more interesting..

Names

After Playing around with different Names I finally came up with the name 'Marina Makintosh' and Played about with different Fonts to display her name in. However because of the length of her name i may only use 'Marina' on the cover, and use her second name on the double page spread.
